Bojana Švertasek was born in Zagreb, Croatia. She is an artist and art teacher. Her work is widely recognized for its evocative coalescence of modern design with colors, shapes, and textures inspired by tradition and nature.
She graduated from the Ceramic Department at the Zagreb School of Applied Arts (1972), from the Department of Painting (1977), and specialized in lithography at the Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts (1979). She continued her professional development (1985) in a Special Glass Atelier at the Academy of Applied Arts (UMPRUM) in Prague (Czech Republic).
Since 1976, she has participated in more than 150 group exhibitions in Croatia and abroad and set up around twenty solo exhibitions (shown in Zagreb, Bedekovčina, Split, Osijek, Vela Luka, and Mantua), showcasing her award-winning works. She has also participated in a number of art colonies and symposia. She is a member of Croatian artists associations (ULUPUH, HDLU, ZUH). From 2003 to 2017, Bojana taught in the Ceramic Department of the Zagreb School of Applied Arts and Design.
